    • PURPOSE:To improve a durability by forming two groups of grooves on the surface of a shaft such that the grooves of each group are parallel to one another and inclined with respect to the axis of the shaft while keeping the ratio of the interval between the adjacent grooves to the width of each groove within a prescribed range. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of grooves 4 are formed in measuring regions 2 and 3 on the circumferential surface of a shaft 1 to be measured such that the grooves in each group 2 or 3 are parallel to one another, inclined with respect to the axis of the shaft and the adjacent grooves 4 have such spacings therebetween that the ratio of the distance (a) of a portion 5 between the adjacent grooves 4 to the width (b) of the groove 4 is within a range of 3:1-0.5:1. Torque detecting coils 6 and 7 are arranged around the regions 2 and 3, respectively. when a torsional torque is applied to the shaft 1, magnetic characteristics in the regions 2 and 3 largely change and changes are detected by the coils 6 and 7. Therefore, whether the arrangement of the coils 6 and 7 is proper can be visually confirmed and a durability in use can be improved by forming the grooves 4.

    • PURPOSE:To accurately detect a torque acting on a shaft, free from changes in the output due to the rotation of the shaft, by repeated application of a twist torque to the surface of the shaft being measured to make the local anisotropy of magnetic permeability thereof isotropic. CONSTITUTION:A yoke 4 comprising an exciting coil 2 and a detection coil 3 is arranged close to a hardened or annealed shaft 1 of magnetic substance to form a magnetic circuit by a magnetic flux of a coil 2 to detect a magnetostrictive component passing through the shaft 1 with the coil 3. When a torque T, clockwise or counterclockwise, is applied to the shaft 1, the magnetic permeability increases or decreases by +sigma or -sigma and the sum thereof is captured as output. First, a twist torque is applied to the shaft 1 exceeding the plastic range thereof, then, the opposite way torque is applied after returned to zero and likewise, a torque being lowered gradually is applied repeatedly. This can turn the local anisotropy of the magnetic permeability of the surface part of the shaft isotropic, thereby eliminating changes in the output of the shaft to stabilize it. This enables accurate detection of torque acting on the shaft.

    • PURPOSE:To enable to perform a high-speed printing by a method wherein the title yoke is formed with a magnetic soft steel material, and the content of C, Si and Al is specified. CONSTITUTION:The title yoke is formed by casting the soft magnetic material fundamentally consisting of 10% or less of C, 10.0% or less of Si, 10.0% or less of Al, and Fe and unavoidable impurities for the remainder. C reduces permeability and corrosion resistance. Si improves magnetic characteristics, it makes electric resistance larger and reduces an eddy current. Also, the oxygen which gives adverse effect on magnetic characteristics is removed by a deoxidizing function. If the content of oxygen is small in quantity, the above-mentioned effect can not be obtained sufficiently, and if the content of oxygen is too much, the castability is impaired, and the manufactured article become fragile. Al increases electric resistance, and it is effective for improvement in magnetic characteristics. Also, Al increases the workability of the yoke by improving the flagility caused by the usage of a large quantity of Si, but as it increased the coersive force which is undesirable as the material for a magnetic core, it is added in the minimum quantity required in accordance with the quantity of Si to be added. If the quantity of Al is too much, it impairs castability.
