    • PURPOSE: To prevent an entire binding machine from being upsized and also stably carry bound paper leaves by a method wherein the paper leaves can be bound while being pushed out so that at least a part of a bind tape protrudes until it is disengaged from a fastener member by a member for pushing out the paper leaves from the fastener member holding the paper leaves. CONSTITUTION: Bills are collected as paper leaves at a collecting part, bound bills S2 taken out of this part are sent to a binding part while being held by a fastener member 51 and bound by a tape. Thereafter the bills S2 are pushed out by a push-out rod 143 so that approximately a half of the bills 2 is made to protrude from the fastener member 51, while the protruding part is mounted on a bound bill mounted plate 150. A bound bill carry-out member 151 positioned at a waiting position beside the bound bills S2 comes into contact with a part of the bound bills S2 from a side by horizontal movement to have this moved on a mount plate 150, while a pressing member 153 presses a part of the bound bills S2 on the other side to guarantee stable transfer of the bound bills 32.

    • PURPOSE: To reduce size and cost by binding without transfer during carrying from a collecting part to a receiving part by providing a tape winding mechanism for winding a bind tape around collected paper leaves positioned between a receiving position and a transfer position while being held by a fastener member. CONSTITUTION: When paper leaves Sl are collected at a collecting part 20a, the paper leaves Sl are pushed out laterally by a push-out mechanism 44a, and held from both a surface and a rear by a fastener member 51 provided adjacent to the collecting part 20a. The fastener member 51 is lowered by a fastener elevator mechanism 5 at a transfer position for transferring from the receiving position to a next receiving part. At this time a bind tape fed by a tape supplying mechanism 53 is wound around the collected paper leaves positioned between the receiving position and the transfer position by a tape winding mechanism 54. Then the bind tape of the paper leaves is adhered by a tape adhering mechanism 55 at the transfer position, and the paper leaves are pushed out to a next receiving part by a bound paper leaves push-out mechanism 56.

    • PURPOSE: To enable detecting of the presence, position and shape of a fine clearance formed on paper leaf such as paper money by detecting diffraction light coming from the paper money as irradiated with a parallel luminous flux. CONSTITUTION: Irradiation light L1 of a light source 1 is turned to a parallel luminous flux L3 by a collimation lens 4 to irradiate a paper money C conveyed 5. Transmission diffraction light L2 of the paper money C is received by a photodetector 2 to judge the presence, position and shape of a cut, a through hole or the like from the received signal. For example, when there is a parallel cut in the short side of the paper money C, the light L1 irradiates as line light with a slit 3 vertical to the direction of conveying the paper money C. At this point, the diffraction light L2 irradiates the rear of the paper money C at the position of the cut and then, an area sensor 2E of the element 2. The position of the paper money C is changed with the conveying 5 thereof but the photodetecting position on the sensor 2E will not change. The position of the cut is detected from the maximum output out of photodetecting outputs in one lateral train when the light L2 is received. The length of the cut is calculated from the period of receiving the light thereby enabling accurate detection of the condition of the cut.
