    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cylindrical heat insulating material which can flexibly deal with circularity of a columnar thermal device on which the material is mounted and variation of products, and has excellent workability of extrapolation.SOLUTION: In a cylindrical heat insulating material that is mounted on an outer circumference of a thermal device and has an annular laminated structure, an innermost layer is structured with a heat insulating material of which base material is made of inorganic fibers to which an inorganic filler is given, of which thickness is 4.5 mm or less, and of which bending resistance measured by a Gurley bending resistance tester based on JIS L1096 is 20 mN or more. The base material made of the inorganic fibers may be the felt made of the inorganic fibers or a compressed material thereof, while the inorganic filler may be impregnated in the pores of the felt or the compressed material. The base material made of the inorganic fibers may be a cloth made by weaving filaments of the inorganic fibers and a layer impregnated with the inorganic filler may be formed on one side surface or both side surfaces of the cloth.
