    • PURPOSE:To efficiently form rod-like ceramics having high dimensional accuracy without expansion of the ends and a warp in the central part by providing a running means to run first and second rollers in the direction to cross the shaft axes, a rotating means and a cutting edge. CONSTITUTION:An interval between a workpiece 5, held by a first roller 1 and a second roller 2, and a cutting edge 3 is adjusted, the rollers 1, 2 are rotated, thereby a ring-like groove can be formed on a formed body (workpiece) 5 in the diametral direction, and the formed body 5 is ruptured at the recessed groove portion after baking. In this work, rod-like ceramics without expansion at the ends and a warp in the central part, having the perpendicularity at the ends, and excellent in dimensional accuracy can be manufactured with good working efficiency. Since the formed body 5 is surely held between the roller 1 and the roller 2, an extent of deflection from a right angle is small at an angle formed between the cutting edge 3 and the formed body 5 and the groove to be cut on the formed body 5 by the cutting edge 3 becomes one ringed form and not spiral. As a result, there is no occurrence of slant breakage of the ends or breakage of other portion than the ringed one, when the baked body is ruptured at the ringed portion.

    • PURPOSE:To efficiently obtain a ceramic article having high dimensional accuracy by forming specific depth recessions in the radial direction of a rod-shaped molding, and arranging them parallelly in contact with each other, and then breaking them at the recessions after baking. CONSTITUTION:Alumina powder is employed as a main component, and it is added with clay and other additives as well as water for kneading and, there after, cylindrical moldings of 2 mm and 4 mm in diameter are obtained by an extruding method. With respect to these cylindrical moldings 1, approximate ly V-shaped grooves 2 of 0.10, 0.15, 0.20, 0.25 mm in depth are formed on their peripheries, for example, at distances of 10 mm and 20 mm and, after that, these moldings 1 are arranged parallelly in contact with each other and baked for two hours at the temperature of 1,350 deg.C. And, the baked moldings obtained in this manner are broken by the use of a breaking jig in order to obtain cylin drical ceramic moldings. In the case wherein the depth of groove ranges from 1/3 to 1/4 and in the case wherein the moldings are arranged parallelly in con tact with each other during baking period, curvature is small as 50mum or below, and the breakage conditions in its ends becomes excellent.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent a warp of a product by extruding a product while both ends thereof in a first direction normal to that of extrusion are separated as waste ends, measuring extruding speed of the waste ends to indirectly measure actual extruding speed of both ends of the product in said direction, and controlling the extruding speeds of the ends of the product based on said measurement. CONSTITUTION:Both waste ends 26 of a product is extruded from a die 12 at a speed substantially equal to the extruding speed. Therefore, when extruding speeds of the ends 26 measured by a speed meter 30 are equal, it follows that extruding speeds of both ends 32 of the product 24 are substantially equal, wherein adjustment of extruding speeds is not needed. When there is any difference in extruding speeds between both the ends 26, even if the product 24 is being extruded in a straight line, there must be substantial difference in extruding speeds between the ends 32, 32. In such case, resistors 18 on both sides are operated to equalize the speeds of the ends 26. As a result, the extrusion speeds of the ends of the product 24 are equalized, preventing a warp thereof.
