    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an optical filter for a PDP which does not suffer from yellowing even when an adhesive containing an ultraviolet absorbent is laminated in contact with a copper mesh. SOLUTION: The optical filter for plasma display are provided with a transparent base 3, a copper mesh 4, and a mesh adhesive layer 5 laminated in this order. The mesh adhesive layer 5 is laminated directly in contact with the copper mesh 4, and contains one or more kinds of dyes selected from a group consisting of color tone correcting dyes and near-infrared absorbing dyes, an ultraviolet absorbent and an adhesive.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plasma display device in which contrast is improved, moire is suppressed and mechanical strength against shock from the outside of the device can be maintained.
      SOLUTION: A front panel 40 is disposed at a distance D from the front of a plasma display panel 100. A contrast refine film 50 in which light absorption parts and light transmission parts extending in the same direction as scanning electrodes, discharge sustaining electrodes and the like which are formed on the plasma display panel 100, are formed with a certain pitch, is stuck to the front substrate 1 of the plasma display panel 100. This helps to refine contrast and suppress moire to a prescribed level or lower. An antireflection film, a chromaticity control film, an electromagnetic radiation prevention film, a near infrared absorption film and the like are all disposed on the front panel 40. This helps to prevent deterioration in each optical film during operation.
