    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal optical element and a method for manufacturing the liquid crystal optical element which are excellent in mass productivity, and which are capable of securing the reliability of connection of the liquid crystal optical element and of reducing the size and cost of the liquid crystal optical element.SOLUTION: A liquid crystal optical element is made by enclosing liquid crystal between a first substrate where a common electrode is formed and a second substrate where a plurality of segment electrodes are formed. A plurality of electrode terminals which are formed being exposed outside are provided on a plurality of corner parts on the side faces of the liquid crystal optical element, and are formed extending in a thickness direction of the liquid crystal optical element.
