    • PURPOSE:To obtain a light wt. printing wire having excellent abrasion resistance and high toughness, by providing an alloy layer based on nickel or cobalt to the surface of a wire main body based on a hard alloy powder containing titanium carbide. CONSTITUTION:A printing wire has a wire main body, which comprises a hard sintered alloy based on a hard alloy powder containing titanium carbide and containing at least one component selected from nickel and cobalt as a bonding phase, and an alloy layer, which is formed on the surface of the wire main body and based on nickel to which nickel phosphide or nickel boride was precipitated. or an alloy layer based on cobalt to which cobalt phosphide or cobalt boride was precipitated. The hard alloy powder containing titanium carbide contributes to the enhancement of the hardness and abrasion resistance of the printing wire. The bonding layer comprising at least one component selected from nickel and cobalt brings trouble to the wettability with the hard alloy powder or the particle growth of said alloy powder and contributes to a sintering property. The alloy layer, which is formed to the surface of the wire main body, comprising the hard sintered alloy imparts high toughness without bringing about the lowering in hardness.
