    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic endoscope which can efficiently and accurately prevent the dew condensation over a cover glass mounted on a solid image sensor with an inexpensive structure. SOLUTION: A heater 25 is mounted on a reflection surface 24c of a prism 24 making up an image pickup device 17 of the electronic endoscope 10. When a power source of the electronic endoscope 10 is turned on, washing water or air is sprayed onto an observation window 20 or on other occasions, a CPU 44 turns on the heater 25 through a heater driver 46 and then off after a time passes enough to ensure that the outer and inner surfaces 30a and 30b of the cover glass 30 reach a thermal equilibrium.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively defog the lens surface of a rigidscope.
      SOLUTION: A light guide 12 for illumination is inserted into a rigid scope inserting part, and a light guide 13 for heating is inserted threreinto independently of the light guide 12. The light guide 12 guides an illumination light to the tip of the rigidscope, and the light guide 13 guides the light for defogging to the tip of the rigidscope. Each of the lights can be independently controlled. In the control of the illumination light, since the amount of the light for the defogging is prevented from being changed, the lens surface can be appropriately heated so that the occurrence of fogging on the lens surface can be effectively prevented.
