CONSTITUTION:A signal detector 100 detects the presence of a luminance Y signal and when the luminance Y signal exists, a high level Hi is outputted and when no luminance Y signal exists, a low level Lo is outputted, a Y signal 200 is outputted from a switch 101 when an output 201 of a monostable multivibrator is at a high level Hi and a signal 201 inputted from a signal generator 102 is outputted from the switch 101 when the output 201 of the monostable multivibrator is at a low level Lo. A pulse frequency width (PFWM) modulator applies pulse frequency (PFM) modulation to the Y signal included in the output of the switch 101 and applies pulse width modulation to the obtained signal alternately by using color difference signals PR, PB. Moreover, a digital audio signal subjected to time axis compression and an identification signal representing the position are used to apply PFM binary pulse width modulation for part of a horizontal blanking period or vertical blanking period. Thus, even when no Y signal 200 exists, since the reference signal exists, the transmission of the audio signal is attained.

    • PURPOSE:To trace the frequency of a light of a local oscillation semiconductor laser with the frequency of an optical signal from a transmitter and to obtain an original signal stably by transmitting a carrier signal even in the absence of the original signal. CONSTITUTION:A transmitter 100 multiplexes a carrier signal 400 onto an original signal 300, applies amplitude modulation to the original signal 300 by using the carrier signal 400 and the resulting signal is fed to the drive current of a semiconductor laser 1 to apply frequency modulation to the frequency of the light of the semiconductor laser 1. A receiver 200 detects a beat signal between the sent optical signal and the optical signal from a local oscillation semiconductor laser 2, a frequency discrimination circuit 30 with the S-shaped characteristic applies frequency discrimination to the beat signal, extracts a carrier signal component to control the frequency of the light of the local oscillation semiconductor laser 2 so as to maximize the amplitude of the carrier signal. Thus, the frequency of the light of the local oscillation semiconductor laser 2 traces with the frequency of the optical signal from the transmitter 100 and the original signal is stably obtained.

CONSTITUTION:Assume that an optical signal input from a semiconductor laser 4 to an optical fiber 9 is reflected at the section of an optical connector or the like, again returned to the laser 4, and is incident to a photodetector 8. Further, assume that the returning light is incident when the laser 4 does not irradiate a light. In this case, when an output waveform signal from the photodetector 8 is input to a gate 7, the output signal component directly from the laser 4 is passed by a gate control signal from a semiconductor laser driving circuit 2, but the signal component due to the returning light is interrupted since the gate control signal is OFF, and the signal component due to the returning light is removed from the output waveform of the gate 7. Accordingly, the signal component due to the returning light does not affect the influence to a bias circuit 1.

Also, when a first 'O'-ring 210 is clamped by a clamping tool 209, a gap between the optical cable 202 and the insertion port 203 can be closed up by the first 'O'-ring 210. Moreover, when the connector 204 is attached to a body case 200 by a connecting screw 215, a gap between the body case 200 and the connector 204 is closed up by a second 'O'-ring. The body case 200, the connector, and the optical cable 202 are closed up tightly, therefore, they can be waterproofed.

    • PURPOSE:To attain the stabilized control of temperatures by varying the gain of an amplifier circuit which amplifies the difference between the output of a temperature detecting element and the reference value in accordance with the difference of temperature between both ends of a Peltier element. CONSTITUTION:A single end of a Peltier element 1 forming a temperature controller is thermally connected to a controlled system 4 enclosed by a heat insulating part 5 via a heat sink 2. While the other end of the element 1 is thermally connected to heat dissipating part 3. The temperature of the end at one side of the element 1 is detected by the 1st temperature detecting ele ment 6 and the temperature of the other end of the element 1 is detected by the 2nd temperature detecting element 7, respectively. These detected tempera ture detecting parts 8 and 9. Here the outputs of both parts 8 and 9 undergo subtraction through a subtractor circuit 10. Then the gain of a variable gain amplifier 12 is decided in response to said output undergone the subtraction. Thus the gain of the amplifier 12 is increased when the output value of the circuit 10 is positive and increased. As a result, a large amount of current flows to the element 1 for absorption of heat as the temperature of the open air rises up.

    • PURPOSE:To attain optical transmission, especially, digital optical transmission by providing an outer case having a vent on the surface to cover a main body case thereby decreasing the temperature rise of the main body case and assembling an LD (semiconductor laser) in it. CONSTITUTION:An outer case 202 is provided to cover the main body case 201. The surface of the outer case 202 has a notch and is bent to have an angle on the surface and a vent 203 is given. The outer case 202 prevents solar rays 20 from being directly incident on the main case 201 and sufficient wind 21 is given to the main body case 201 through the vent 203 of the outer case 202, then the temperature rise of the main body case 201 is prevented. Thus, even when the equipment of the this invention is installed outdoor, the temperature rise of the main body case 201 is small and kept within the operating temperature range (maximum temperature 50 deg.) of the LD 200. In selecting the color of the surface of the outer case 202 as, e.g., white color, the solar ray 20 is reflected more effectively and in selecting the color of the surface of the main body case 201 as, e.g., black color, since the heat dissipation effect is increased and the temperature rise of the main body case 205 is prevented by the increase.
