CONSTITUTION:The settling tank 1 provided with the inflow chamber 2 and the settling chamber 2, a means 5 for supplying an activated sludge-contg. liq. to the inflow chamber 2, a means 7 for discharging the supernatant water from the settling chamber 3, a means for scraping the sludge deposited in the settling chamber 3 and a means 9 for discharging the scraped sludge are provided. The water surface in the inflow chamber 2 is kept below the reference water surface L in the settling chamber 3 by the ceiling board 10, and the inflow chamber is filled with water at all times. The bottom of the inflow chamber 2 is formed by a flow straightening plate 4 and positioned above the bottom of the settling chamber 3. Furthermore, at least a part of the water surface in the settling chamber 3 close to the inflow chamber 2 is kept below the reference water surface L in the settling chamber 3 by the shielding partition wall 11. As a result, the sewage treating equipment can be set on the floating body, which has been considered to be difficult.

    • PURPOSE: To obtain a highly stabilized mixed fuel in high energy efficiency with low grinding power, by mixing a dry-ground solid fuel and oil, expelling the air contained in the mixture followed by adding a surfactant to the resulting mixture.
      CONSTITUTION: A solid fuel such as coal, petroleum coke, charcoal is ground in a dry state to result in such a size that, for example, its 200 mesh-passable fraction falls between 70 and 80%, followed by admixing an oil with the fraction in such an amount so that the weight ratio of the former to the latter is normally 1. The resulting mixture is then deaerated in such a way as to allow to stand in a tank with an opening or to suction the air in the tank by a vacuum pump, followed by admixing a surfactant with the mixture deaerated, thus obtaining the objective fuel.

    • PURPOSE:To measure density accurately even though bubbles are included in high concentration slurry, by providing a volume type flowmeter and a mass type flowmeter in a conveying pipe of the slurry in series, and dividing the flow rate obtained by the latter by the flow rate obtained by the former. CONSTITUTION:Heavy oil and coal, which are supplied by feeding pipes 1 and 2 are mixed and crushed in a tube mill 3. The prepared slurry is stored in a receiving tank 4, stirred by a stirrer 5, and moved in a conveying pipe 6 by a pump 7. A volume type flowmeter 8 and a mass type flowmeter 9 are provided at the intermediate parts of the conveying pipe 6 in series, and the respective flow rates are measured. When the flow rate of the latter is divided by that of the former, a weight per unit volume, i.e. density, is obtained. Since the mass type flowmeter, which is not affected by the concentration and viscosity of the slurry, inclusion of bubbles, an the like to any extent, and the volume type flowmeter, which does not indicate abnormality in the detected value due to the inclusion of the bubbles, are combined and used, this method can be applied to the extensive range of ordinary slurries and the like.
