      SOLUTION: This puncture needle unit of the ultrasonic endoscope has the ultrasonic probe whose surface for generating ultrasonic waves at the tip of an inserting part is uneven. In the ultrasonic endoscope, the axial line of an opening part at the tip of the forceps channel opening at the tip of the inserting part is turned in the direction not to intervene with the ultrasonic probe, and a sheath and the puncture needle unit with the puncture needle inserted into the sheath movably are taken in/out of the forceps channel. The ultrasonic endoscope has a large diameter part concentric with the sheath at the tip of the sheath. The outer diameter of the large diameter part is set so that the puncture needle passing through the sheath and the extension direction thereof are outside in the direction of the tangent connecting the edge part closest to the ultrasonic probe at the tip opening of the forceps channel and the convex surface of the ultrasonic probe when the large diameter part is located at the tip opening of the forceps channel.
