    • PURPOSE:To obtain vapor-permeable and oil-repellent paper having heat resistance, vapor permeability, water absorbability, water resistance, oil repellency and heat-sealing properties, and suitable for use to wrap cooked foodstuffs, frozen foodstuffs, etc., by laminating a vapor- permeable heat-sealing layer and a vapor-permeable non-heat-sealing layer to make a wet web and applying oil-repellent treatment to the resultant wet web with a fluoro-surfactant. CONSTITUTION:This vapor-permeable and oil-repellent paper is manufactured by making a wet web from a papermaking material including thermoplastic multi-branch type fibers and thermoplastic composite fibers, which forms a heat-sealing layer 2, and a papermaking material consisting of papermaking natural fibers or papermaking semi-synthetic fibers, which forms a non-heat-sealing layer 1, and by applying heat treatment under no-pressure or under pressure to the resultant wet web after a fluoro-surfactant is internally added to, or applied to. the wet web. The thermoplastic multi-branch type fibers are such fibers as pulp-like multi-branch type hydrophilic fibers consisting of a thermoplastic resin such as polyethylene. On the other hand, the thermoplastic composite fibers are such fibers as short fibers consisting of two or more kinds of thermoplastic synthetic-resin components having different melting points. This vapor-permeable and oil-repellent paper provides a wrapping material having heat resistance, vapor permeability for water vapor, water absorbability, wet strength, oil repellency and heat-sealing properties either on one face or on both faces, in the case where foodstuffs are heated or defrosted in a microwave oven as they are wrapped in this paper.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain an anionic living polymer of a monomer protected with a protective group which can be eliminated only by treatment with a mineral acid or a base, by polymerizing a Schiff base of a specified vinyl monomer in the presence of an anionic polymerization initiator. CONSTITUTION:A vinyl monomer (a) of formula I (wherein R' is H or CH3) is reacted with about 1mol, per mol of component (a), of a 2,6-substituted aniline derivative (b) of formula II (wherein R are each alkyl) at 70-90 deg.C for 1-10hr in the presence of, optionally, 0.1-10mol%, based on component (a), acidic catalyst to obtain a Schiff base (A) of an aromatic vinyl compound. Component A is polymerized at -100 deg.C to room temperature for 0.1-24hr in an inert gas atmosphere or a vacuum in the presence of an anionic polymerization initiator (B) [e.g., (alpha-methylstyrene oligomer) potassium salt] to obtain the title polymer having a number-average MW of 500-500,000 and a weight-average MW to number-average MW ratio of about 1 and having repeating units of formula III (wherein n>=2).

    • PURPOSE:To obtain the titled copolymer useful as a reactive resin, etc., by converting a 4-vinylbenzoic acid compound to chloride, reacting with an amino alcohol, cyclizing the product and carrying out living block copolymerization of the resultant styrene derivative containing 4,4-oxazolinyl group with a comonomer. CONSTITUTION:A vinyl monomer of formula I (R is H or methyl; M is H or alkali metal) is made to react with a chlorination agent to form an acid chloride, which is made to contact with an amino alcohol compound of formula II (R and R are alkyl) to obtain an acid amide compound. The compound is subjected to condensation and cyclization in the presence of a chlorination agent to obtain a styrene derivative of formula III containing 4,4-oxazolinyl group. The derivative is added to a living polymer derived from a vinyl monomer of formula IV (R is H or methyl; Z is phenyl, 1-6C alkyl, vinyl, etc.) and block-copolymerized to obtain the objective living block copolymer containing a linkage of the recurring unit of formula V and the recurring unit of formula VI.
