    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a support tool holding a getter in a vacuum container and having a simple structure. SOLUTION: This getter support tool 30 is provided with a hold section 32 pinching a getter 1 from above and below, the first support leg 34 protruded toward the lower face of the getter 1 integrally with the hold section 32, and the second support leg 35 having a spring property and faced to the upper face of the getter 1 integrally with the hold section 32. The hold section 32 of the getter support tool 30 holds the getter 1 from the outside. The getter 1 fitted to the getter support tool 30 is stored in the getter chamber 20 of a display tube 10. The upper face of the getter 1 emitting a getter material 3 is faced to the outer face of the second substrate 13, and a getter film is formed on the outer face of the second substrate 13. The getter support tool 30 is pressed by the elasticity of the second support leg 35 and fixed. The warp of the second support leg 35 is changed in response to the contact state with the second substrate 13 of an envelope 11. The distance between the upper face of the getter 1 and the second substrate 13 of the envelope 11 is made constant, and the interval between the getter 1 and the second substrate 13 is kept at the desired value.

    • PURPOSE:To provide a manufacturing device for a substrate of a fluorescent character display tube, with which the seal part of the envelope is equipped with a high airtightness. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of supply vessels 4 filled with frit glass 10 are accommodated in the first vacuum vessel 2. The frit glass 10 is heated by an infrared lamp house 11 and a gas is emitted from the molten frit glass and exhausted to outside the vacuum vessel. A substrate 20 is heated to a specified temp. by a heating table 21 provided in the second vacuum vessel 3, wherein the two vacuum vessels are in communication above and below in a specified position. Pistons are inserted by a pressing means 14 into the supply vessels set in place, and the molten frit glass is supplied onto the lower board. The heating table is moved by a locating device 22, and the frit glass is applied to the peripheral area of the substrate oversurface. The frit glass applied to the substrate does not contain gas substantially. If this substrate is used in manufacturing envelopes for fluorescent character display tubes, the seal part does not foam in the sealed mounting operations to be made in a vacuum so that the degree of vacuum inside of the envelope is held and its seal part is equipped with a high airtightness.
