摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manage a communication network as a hierarchical structure and to reduce processing time by changing the operating state of a communication path according to controlling contents and changing the sub ordinate state of the communication path of a client layer influenced by changes in the operating state of the communicating path. SOLUTION: An operating state shows a state according to the contents of control such as setting and stoppage of a communication path while a subordinate state shows a state of the communication path of a client layer influenced by the controlled state of the communication path of a sever layer. Consequently, at the time of controlling an XC release of the communication path (C), namely a cross connect 13 of the communication path C, to be in a stopped state, the operating state of the communication path C is made into a stopped state, the subordinate state of a communication path A of the client layer of the communication path B of the client layer of the communication path C is stopped and the subordinate state of the communication path B is stopped. Thus, concerning a processing in the case of changing the controlled state of the communication path of the server layer, only processing upto the layer is required when the subordinate state is already changed.

The node C returns the bypass setting message since the communication fault does not occur with the node B. Thus, only the node C returns the bypass setting message and the bypasses 1 and 2 are speedily formed with the originating node D.

For example, when a fault is generated only at a transmission line from a node 3 toward a node 1 in a link L1, the node 1 can detect it. But, as the node 1 is a chooser concerning a path P1 housed in the link L1, it can not send the message. In order to avoid this situation, when a node on a user side detects the fault, it can send the message reporting the generation of the fault in the direction.
