    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical cable splicer with which optical drop cables with sufficient tensile strength can be connected to each other inside a building. SOLUTION: This is an optical cable splicer 1 for connecting a first and a second optical drop cables 10 1 , 10 2 inside a building. A fiber coupling section 22 for connecting a first and a second coated optical fibers 11 1 , 11 2 is formed in a region between a first and a second cable storing grooves 21 1 , 21 2 as a recess of a housing 20. In the fiber coupling section 22, there are provided a first and a second holding lugs 22a 1 , 22a 2 holding, from both sides in the width direction, a coated optical fiber connecting means that connects the first and the second coated optical fibers 11 1 , 11 2 . In the housing 20, an optical drop cable fixing means is installed which fixes, to the housing 20, the first and the second optical drop cables 10 1 , 10 2 carrying a tension member.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a media converter etc. capable of easily determining a portion where a failure occurs among an optical fiber circuit, a station building side media converter and an in-house side media converter.
      SOLUTION: The media converter 10 is provided with an optical level detecting means 16 for detecting the light reception level of an optical signal to be input from the optical fiber circuit; a reception level propriety determining means 18 for turning on a reception level lamp 22 if the detected light reception level is not less than a light reception level lower limit set at a value larger by a predetermined value than an optical link lower limit, and turning off the lamp 22 if the detected light reception level is less than the light reception level lower limit; and a control means 19 for determining whether an optical link of the optical fiber circuit side is good or not and turning on or off an optical link lamp 21 on the basis of a result of this determination.
