    • PURPOSE:To make the usage of a clock easy, by generating an alarm sound at a correct minute of a normal time, even if the set of the alarm time is shifted from the correct minute, through the generation of alarm sound with the detection of the position of pointer within one minute. CONSTITUTION:To a counter of a main count circuit 10, a difference between an alarm set time and a normal time is stored. This difference is counted up or down with a signal in 1/20Hz or the like, AND gates 16, 18 and 19 are controlled, and when the normal time is within 20sec of the alarm set time, an FF17 is set and an AND gate 20 is closed. On the other hand, a pointer position detecting circuit 7 detecting the position of pointer within one minute counts the 1/20Hz signal and when the count value reaches 3, a correct minute output is generated via a counter to be reset. This output controls the generation of alarm sound via the gate 20. Thus, even if the setting of the alarm time is shifted by 20sec or the like from the correct minute, the alarm sound is generated at the correct minute of the normal time. Then, a pointer type alarm clock with ease of use can be obtained without mis-judgement as out of order due to to the shift in the set time.

    • PURPOSE:To provide an analog timepiece with a stopwatch function by selecting a frequency dividing circuit for a stopwatch and by driving electromechanical converters for a second, a minute and an hour hand, respectively. Then, the hands 6, 7 and 8 are similarly driven and controlled by a second clocking circuit 26 for the stopwatch, a 0-position pulse generating circuit 28, a minute/hour clocking circuit 27 for the stopwatch, a 0-position pulse generating circuit 29, etc., to perform stopwatch operation. Resetting to normal time display is carried out similarly and even an analog timepiece is provided with a stopwatch function.

    • PURPOSE:To permit the multidisplay watch to have an efficient display surface over the inner circumference of the cell by making the liquid crystal display cell annular, enclosing given parts inside the annular cell, and arranging the display members above the connecting portions provided on the outside of the annular cell. CONSTITUTION:An annular liquid crystal display cell 3 comprises upper and lower glass substrates 25 and 26. An upper polarizing plate 32 is bonded on the upper surface of the substrate 25, and a segment electrode 33 is formed on the lower surface of the substrate 25. A common electrode 34 is formed on the upper surface of the substrate 26, and a lower polarizing plate 36 is bonded on the lower surface of the substrate 26. Under the plate 36 a reflecting plate 24 is arranged. On the outside of the cell 3, connecting portions 30 are provided and connected to a circuit board 16. The inner circumferential portion of the cell 3 has only a sealing portion 21, so that a dial plate 22 is arranged in a large space 31 inside the annular cell 3. The cell 3 integrally displays the lapse of second on an annular second analog display portion 39.
