An threshold set circuit 7 sets a threshold according to corrected data outputted on a data line 100 and outputs the set threshold to a data line 300. Then, a binarizing circuit 6 binarizes the data of a target pixel on the basis of the edge detection signal on the signal line 200, the threshold issued from the threshold set circuit 7, and a signal on a signal line 400 and outputs the result on a signal line 500. Then, based on the signal '1' or '0' outputted on the signal line 500, an output part 9 forms a visible image.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent a line from being generated in a boundary part of an image by dividing an original into plural scanning areas, dispersing a generated error data to peripheral picture elements, executing an intermediate processing, and allowing the adjacent scanning area to have a continuity. CONSTITUTION:By a scan of once of a CCD unit, an image data of plural lines is obtained, and by connecting an SW1, an error data to be added to the 257th and the 258th data of each line is stored in a link error memory 328 from a delay part 310. These error data are read out of the memory 328 by synchronizing with the first and the second image data of the corresponding line in plural lines obtained by the next scan. Then read-out error data is sent to an adder 322 by an SW2, added to the corresponding image data, and thereafter, brought to an error allocation and a binarization processing. The error data to be added to the image data corresponding to the first picture element and the second picture element of the next area is stored in the memory 328 through the SW1 in the same way as the first scan.

    • PURPOSE:To improve the accuracy and efficiency of detection by shifting a block to be inputted by one or plural picture elements from a preceding block in accordance with a result whether the block processed immediately before the current one is an edge part or not. CONSTITUTION:Image data from an input device 11 is converted into digital data by a A/D converter 12 and shading correction or the like is executed by a correcting circuit 13. A corrected signal is stored in respective memories 14a, 14b so that block data shifted by plural picture elements in the main scanning direction are stored in the memory 14a and block data shifted by one picture element are held in the memory 14b. A selector 15 outputs a signal 300 when a signal 500 is '1' or a signal 200 when the signal 500 is '0' to an edge detecting circuit 16, the circuit 16 finds out a difference between the maximum value and the minimum value in the block, and when the difference is more than a threshold level, the block is the edge part is decided, and '1' is outputted as a decision signal 500. When the difference is smaller than the threshold level, '0' is outputted. Consequently, the detecting accuracy and efficiency can be improved.

In the circuit 5, they are compared with a threshold, binarized and sent to a printer 7 and the error correcting circuit 6. In the circuit 6, the error between the data before binarization and the data after binarization is calculated and sent to the circuit 4 as the erroneous data 300.

    • PURPOSE:To always reproduce a picture with high quality and high definition by splitting a picture into blocks comprising plural picture elements and selecting the total sum of the density in the said block to a density of a specific picture element in the block and selecting the density of the remaining picture element in the block zero. CONSTITUTION:Data is transferred in one block of m X n picture elements, an edge detection circuit 14 decide whether or not an edge exists in the block and outputs '1' when an edge exists and '0' when not exists as a signal 200. The signal 200 is inputted to a selector 15 and the signal 100 is used as the signal 300 when the signal 200 is at '0' to transfer it to the pre-processing circuit 16. The pre-processing circuit 16 sums the block data inputted as the signal 300 to apply pseudo dot method replacing the total sum of the density data in the block as the density of one picture element or plural picture elements in the block. Thus, dots are arranged periodically and the specific stripe pattern caused in case of binarizing by the error diffusion method is reduced.
