摘要： PURPOSE:To provide preventive maintenance method and apparatus for suppressing stress corrosion cracking of housing, and the like, at the bottom of a reactor pressure vessel. CONSTITUTION:The preventive maintenance apparatus 1 equipped with a drive mechanism capable of freely moving up and down, turning, and swinging an ejection nozzle 24 is set at the head part of CRD housing 45 and in the hole 15 of a core supporting plate 14 for fuel supporting metal. Water pressurized by a high pressure pump is ejected through an ejection nozzle 24 to produce cavitation bubbles. The bubbles are fed to all parts to be protected where the bubbles are collapsed to generate energy for offsetting the residual tensile stress.

摘要： PURPOSE:To reduce the residual stress of a material to be worked by selecting the optimal water temperature for generating the cavitation appropriate for water jet peening. CONSTITUTION:The high pressure water 2 at 15-70 deg.C is jetted for collision by a high pressure from a nozzle 1 to an objective material 6 of construction of an underwater structure 5 in the ambient water 4 at 15-70 deg.C. This high pressure water 2 as a highspeed water jet with powerful cavitation collides with the objective material 6 of construction, at this stage, a huge number of cavitation bubbles are broken on the surface of the objective material 6 of construction and near by to generate a lot of impact pressure pulses. Crystal grains of the surface of the objective material 6 of construction is plastically deformed so as to be collapsed by this impact pressure, and the condition of residual stress of the objective material 6 of construction is improved from the tensile direction to the compressive direction. With this work, one of three elements (sensitization of material, corrosive environment, and stress) essential for the generation of stress corrosion cracking is eliminated.

摘要： PURPOSE:To reform the surface stress condition of an under-water metallic material efficiently by providing injection openings to form a straight jet and a rotary jet rotating around the straight jet. CONSTITUTION:At the ambiance of the water jet injected from a central exhaust nozzle 7, small exhaust nozzles to exhaust jets having a large rotation speed components are arranged in a circular form at the outer side of the central exhaust nozzle 7, or a circular slit 12 with small opening area is provided. By adding a strong rotating jet from the circular slit 12 to the straight jet from the central exhaust nozzle 7, a shearing whirlpool array to be the producing positions of cavitation bubbles at the border of both jets is generated very actively. The cavitation jet generated in such a way is applied to the surface of a steel material which requires a peening process.

摘要： PURPOSE:To increase the peening efficiency by providing control means to control at least either side of a nozzle processing surface distance or a water injection pressure so as to make the frequency property of a nozzle to an optimum value of the frequency property. The deflection between the resaltant frequency property and a preset optimum frequency property value is found, and at least either side of a nozzle processing surface distance L or a water injection pressure is controlled to make the frequency property of the nozzle 4 to the optimum frequency property value by control means 9 and 10.

CONSTITUTION:Plural exhaust nozzles 2 are set by inclining opposing each other, and high-speed under-water water jets injected from the exhaust nozzles 2 are struck each other. By such a way, high-speed water jets having a severe turbulance strike each other, and an extremely severe and amplified cavitation is generated by the synergetic effect of the turbulances. And the form of the jets is flat in the thickness direction and has a fairly large extention in the width direction, making a so-called fan-form cavitation. Consequently, the contact area with the ambient water is increased, and furthermore, a shearing function between the ambient water comes to operate strongly, and the bubble cores in the ambient water receive a trigger force owing to the turbulance, so as to progress as cavitation bubbles.

Next, the cooled sleeve 9 is inserted in the housing from the lower end thereof and a heater 10 is further mounted to the sleeve 9 to heat the sleeve 9 by a sleeve insertion jig 7 and the sleeve 9 is heated to shape memory temp. and expanded in diameter to be fixed to the inner surface of the housing 3 in a close contact state without generating a gap.
