    • PURPOSE:To provide high sensitivity to CO2 even at about 100-300 deg.C working temp. and to detect even the trace CO2 of 100-500ppm with high sensitivity by using the detecting material consisting of tin oxide immobilized with superfine gold particles and Mg compd. CONSTITUTION:An aq. soln. contg. a water soluble tin compd. (for example, SnCl2, etc.) and water soluble gold compd. (AuCl4, etc.) is prepd. The prepd. aq. soln. and an aq. soln. of an alkaline compd. such as ammonium, etc., are stirred and mixed to adjust the pH of the aq. soln. to about 6-11. The mixture composed of the hydroxides of the silver and gold is obtd. as coprecipitate by this operation. The coprecipitate is washed and dried to form powder which is then impregnated with an aq. soln. of the water soluble compd. (hydroxide, nitrate, etc.) of Mg or M and is again dried to form powder. The resultant powder is heated to convert the tin compd. to an oxide and to decompose the gold hydroxide to obtain the superfine gold powder, by which the detecting material for the CO2 sensor is obtd. The high sensitivity to the CO2 is obtd. as shown in the figure at the working temp. of about 100-300 deg.C and even the trace CO2 is selectively detected if this material is used.
