摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device reducing electric power required for heating during fixing by causing toner constituting a toner image to be in a suitable state for fixing to a recording medium by using fixing liquid while avoiding image disturbance, power consumption for drying, an increase in time required for fixing, effects on an inner member such as a photoreceptor and an abnormal image caused thereby due to use of the fixing liquid and forming an image without being limited by a liquid development.SOLUTION: An image forming device uses: fixing liquid applying means 41 for applying fixing liquid, which swells and softens toner so as to cause the toner to be in a suitable state for fixing to a recording medium S, to the recording medium S before carrying a toner image; transferring means 5 for transferring the toner image on a second intermediate transferring body 40, on which the toner image is transferred from a first intermediate transfer body 11 to the recording medium S having been applied with the fixing liquid by the fixing liquid applying means 41, while bringing the toner image into contact with the fixing liquid on the recording medium S; and fixing means 6 for fixing the toner image to the recording medium S by heating the toner image and the fixing liquid on the recording medium S and by forming the suitable state for fixing thereto.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To bring a toner into a suitable state for fixing to a recording medium by using a fixing liquid, to avoid being limited to liquid development, to reduce power needed for heating during fixing, and to avoid an increase of image disturbance, power needed for drying, and time needed for fixing due to the use of a fixing liquid, as well as its influence on members inside the machine and unevenness of an amount of the fixing liquid applied on the recording medium.SOLUTION: A liquid which swells and softens toner and brings it into a suitable state for fixing to a medium S is applied to the medium S before a toner image is held thereon. A toner image held on a toner image carrier 11 is transferred on to the medium S after applying the liquid thereon while the toner image is brought into contact with the liquid on the medium S, and then the toner image and the liquid on the medium S are heated and the toner is brought into the above-mentioned state and is fixed to the medium S. Liquid applying means 41 has a roller-like member 44 for applying the liquid onto the recording medium S and a member 48 for supplying the liquid thereto. The angle of contact θ1 to the liquid on end parts 44b of the member 44 is larger than the angle of contact θ2 to the liquid on a part 48a of a member 48 corresponding to the end parts 44b.

The fixer liquid application unit 18 discharges the fixer liquid containing plasticizer having toner-softening/swelling function from a discharge head, and applies the fixer liquid only on a required region of the recording medium 9.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus, which controls a toner to be in an appropriate state for fixing on a recording medium using a fixer, reduces electric power required for heating upon fixing without limitation to a liquid development, and prevents disturbance in an image due to the fixer, increase in the power for drying or required time for fixing, an adverse influence on members in a machine, and decrease in the function of the fixer.SOLUTION: A fixer to swell and soften a toner into an appropriate state for fixing to a medium S is applied to the medium S prior to carrying a toner image; a toner image on a toner image carrier 11 is transferred onto the medium S to which the fixer is applied, while bringing the toner image into contact with the fixer on the medium S; and the toner image and the fixer on the medium S are heated so as to render the toner into the appropriate state and to fix it to the medium S. Fixer application means 41 comprises supply means 56 for supplying the fixer to an application member 44, which applies the fixer to the recording medium S, and sealing means 40, 50, which seal the supply means 56 and the fixer supplied to the application member 44 by the supply means 56, in cooperation with the application member 44.
