    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for heat-treating a high-strength steel pipe which reliably keeps its fabrication quality, and has such a sufficient pressure resistance as to cope with higher pressure tendency employed in a common-rail fuel-injection system that is used in recent years. SOLUTION: This heat treatment method comprises the steps of; preparing a steel pipe to be treated, by drawing a steel pipe, which is made from a low-carbon steel or an alloy steel for a high pressure pipe containing at least vanadium, to a target dimension; normalizing the steel pipe by holding the steel pipe to be treated at a high temperature in a range of 950 to 1,100°C for a predetermined period of time, and then slowly cooling it at a predetermined cooling rate; subsequently tempering the steel pipe by heating the steel pipe to be treated to the range of 500 to 700°C, and then cooling it to ordinary temperature at an arbitrary cooling rate.
