    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the effect of noises to the utmost extent even when a level of a received signal is smaller and to reduce occurrence of wrong reproduction of received data.
      SOLUTION: Mixers 31, 32 in a reception section 17 generate I and Q signals from a modulated received signal, a local signal, and a local signal whose phase is shifted by 90 degrees. The I and Q signals are fed to a digital signal processing section 12 via a low pass filter, a capacitor, a variable gain amplifier, and an ADC. Further, the generated I and Q signals are directly fed to the digital signal processing section. The digital signal processing section detects signs of the I and Q signals that are directly input. Then the sign of the detected I signal is multiplied with the I signal input from the ADC and the sign of the detected Q signal is multiplied with the Q signal received from the ADC to bring the signs into a positive state in common, and thereafter the I and Q signals are summated, binarized and decoded.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a circuit scale, because a synchronous detector as a whole has a considerable circuit scale, and a demodulator comprising such synchronous detector has a complicated configuration and a larger circuit scale.
      SOLUTION: A predetermined code sequence is associated with a signal for the purpose of transmission. Spread spectrum communications are conducted using a modulation technique in which the code sequence is expressed on a modulated wave with a shape capable of being outwardly likened to frequency deviation. The demodulator for demodulating the modulated wave comprises a frequency detection means for performing frequency detection on the received modulated wave, and a correlation computation means for performing correlation computation using a predetermined correlation coefficient on a signal responding to the detection result of the frequency detection means. The code sequence is not used, but a despread code sequence acquired by frequency detection after modulating the code sequence by the modulation technique is used as the correlation coefficient.

      SOLUTION: The QPSK demodulation for the soft output in the 3G TDD system is performed by successively implementing the steps of calculating a location of a receiving symbol on a constellation, and generating a differential value between a calculated I (in-phase) component value and a Q (quadrature) component value as a soft output of the I component in the receiving symbol and generating the total of the I component value and the Q component value as a soft output of the Q component in the receiving symbol.
