    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a belt unit capable of preventing a guide rib from riding on a drive roller for a prolonged period.SOLUTION: A secondary transfer belt unit 40 comprises a secondary transfer belt 410, a drive roller 420 and a pair of guide ribs 430. The drive roller 420 is disposed in an inner periphery side of the secondary transfer belt 410 and drives the secondary transfer belt 410. The pair of guide ribs 430 is disposed at both end parts in the width direction on the inner periphery surface of the secondary transfer belt and prevents meandering of the secondary transfer belt 410 by contacting with both end surfaces of the drive roller 420. In addition, the drive roller 420 is provided with low friction regions 440 with a predetermined width at both end parts in its longitudinal direction, and friction coefficient of the low friction regions is configured to be smaller than friction coefficient of a region 450 which is adjacent to the low friction regions 440.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the oblique run of a transfer belt 21 by mechanical control.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes: a collar 27 provided at at least one of ends of a driven roller 23 in an axial direction thereof and pressed by the transfer belt 21, to be displaced in the axial direction, when the transfer belt 21 obliquely runs; a pressing arm 31 extending from the side of the driven roller 23 to the side of a backup roller 26B and pressed by the collar 27, when the collar 27 is displaced, to press the axial end side on the same side as the collar 27 of the backup roller 26B; and an oblique run force conversion part 30 having an inclined surface 28A inclined in the axial direction and a movable part 31C coming into slide contact with the inclined surface 28A and changing the direction of a force for displacing the collar 27, to convert the force into a force for pressing the pressing arm 31. The inclined surface 28A is inclined so as to get closer to a rotation center line of the driven roller 23 as it is away from the end of the transfer belt 21 in a width direction thereof.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve a structure which can prevent deterioration of belt shift control accuracy caused by the existence of a level difference of a width-direction end (edge) of an intermediate transfer belt 606.SOLUTION: A reference mark 3 is provided on the inner peripheral surface of an intermediate transfer belt 606 so as to stride over a level difference. When a rotational direction rear end of the reference mark 3 is detected by a reference detection sensor 2, an edge detection sensor 1 starts to detect an edge at a set sampling period. The sampling period Ts is set so as to satisfy L1≤V×Ts and L2=K×(V×Ts), wherein L1 is a length in a circumferential direction of the reference mark 3; V is a rotational speed of the intermediate transfer belt 606; L2 is a length in a circumferential direction from the reference detection sensor 2 to the edge detection sensor 1; and K is a natural number. As a result, the edge detection sensor 1 does not detect the level difference, so that belt shift control can be performed with high accuracy.

The end face 63c of the driven roller 63 is formed with a protruded part 63d and a groove part 63e circulated around the periphery of a rotation axis following the rotation of the driven roller 63.
