    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method by which a catalyst for clarifying exhaust gas having sufficiently high clarifying performance and excellent high temperature durability can be produced. SOLUTION: In a production method of the catalyst for clarifying exhaust gas, sol, in which colloidal particles consisting of complex metal oxides that is obtained by pulverizing complex metal oxide aggregate equalized by high temperature calcination and that has ≤20nm average grain size are uniformly dispersed in a dispersion medium, is supplied onto a surface of a metal oxide carrier that is consisting of nano primary particle aggregate of a chain shape or hollow oxide powder and that has a medium pore diameter larger than average grain size of the colloidal particles and then the sol is dried to obtain the catalyst for clarifying exhaust gas which is constituted by carrying the colloidal particles on the metal oxide carrier.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the deterioration of a carrier and the grain growth of Pt at the time of high temperature endurance for a catalyst for cleaning an exhaust gas. SOLUTION: The catalyst for cleaning the exhaust gas is obtained by supporting Pt on a CeO 2 -ZrO 2 -Al 2 O 3 compound oxide in which Al/(Ce+Zr) is within a range of 1/20 to 50/20. The grain growth of CeO 2 -ZrO 2 particles is suppressed and the reduction of the specific surface area at a temperature close to 1,000°C is suppressed by allowing Al 2 O 3 to coexist. The low-temperature activity is enhanced by heat treatment at a high temperature, because Ce is made easily reducible and the oxygen release rate is enhanced.
