A refrigerant flow is switched such that upon heating the non azeotropic mixture refrigerant flows from a lowest stage lower end refrigerant pipe 27b to an uppermost stage upper end refrigerant pipe 27a while upon refrigerant operation the non azeotropic mixture refrigerant flows from the upper end refrigerant pipe 27a to the lower end refrigerant pipe 27b.

A control unit 27 determines an operating number of rotation by an air-conditioning load signal from an air-conditioning load detecting unit S to control the compressor 1 while the amount of opening and closing of a control valve 23 is set and controlled by a relation between the air-conditioning load and the number of rotation of the compressor 1. According to this method, control from a heating temperature, whereat low-boiling point refrigerant is gasified, to another heating temperature, whereat high-boiling point refrigerant is gasified, can be carried out and the reserving ratio of refrigerant in the reserving tank 9 can be increased in accordance with the ratio of gasified refrigerant whereby an operation mode, in which the ratio of composition of low-boiling point refrigerant and high-boiling point refrigerant in a circulating cycle is increased, can be obtained.

According to this method, drain water A, generated at the upper side of the slit 10 on the fin plate 5, is recovered along an upper side crest line 10a formed by the slit 10 while drain water A, generated at the lower side of the slit 10 of the fin plate 5 is recovered along the lower crest line of the fin plate 5 whereby the load of drain water A with respect to the crest line 5b of the fin plate 5 is reduced and the dropping of drain water A into the lateral-flow fan 2 is prevented even when the inclination of the indoor side heat exchanger 3b is increased.

The indoor air passes through a suction passage 25 and a suction side duct 10a, the air is guided to an indoor heat exchanger not shown placed outside a room and is heat exchanged. The heat exchanged indoor air passes through a blowing duct 10b and is guided to an indoor panel 11. At this time, the indoor air strikes against a belt-like plate 27 acting as a striking wall disposed in a blowing passage 26. Due to this arrangement, the indoor air is dispersed upwardly, downwardly, rightwardly and leftwardly and then blown from an indoor air blowing port 23 into a room. Since the area of the blowing port of the indoor air blowing port 23 is set to be larger than the opening area of the blowing side duct 10b, the blown air is blown at a lower speed.

The indoor air becomes an injection flow, passes through a duct 10a on the suction side, flows from a suction port 2 of the casing 1 into an air passage 6, the air is guided to an indoor heat exchanger 5 placed on the outdoor side C and is heat exchanged there. After this operation, the heat exchanged indoor air becomes a rapid flow, passes from a blowing port 3 of the casing 1 through a blowing duct 10b, flows to a blowing grill 12b of an indoor panel 11 and this air is guided into an indoor area A. As a result, either cooling or heating of the indoor area A is carried out.
