    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mandrel bar for hot seamless tubes which displays excellent seizure resistance by synergism of a scale layer and a nitrided diffusion layer which are formed on its surface.
      SOLUTION: (1) This mandrel bar for hot seamless tubes is provided with the scale layer containing Fe oxides and having the thickness of 3-20 μm and the nitrided diffusion layer having the thickness of 50-500 μm under this scale layer on the surface. (2) In this method for treating the surface of the mandrel bar for hot seamless tubes after applying dicyandiamide and/or melamine of ≥50 g/m

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively prevent the generation of inside surface flaws by efficiently supplying chemicals or the like to uniformly adhere to the inside surface of a hollow tube stock when manufacturing a seamless steel tube by elongating.

An apparatus for the method is also disclosed.
