    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for processing an end surface of an optical connector capable of performing rough polishing and finish polishing of an optical connector ferrule with excellent repeatability by a very simple operation and an inexpensive compact device with a simple mechanism.
      SOLUTION: A plurality of polishing areas including a roughing area and a finishing area and composed of polishing films 7, 8 having different kinds of abrasive grains or grain sizes are provided on a polishing surface plate or an elastic body 6 on the plate. The end surface of the connector is continuously locally slid (small diameter high-speed rotation) 4 and moved (3) at low speed by making the polishing area for relatively roughing a start point (processing start point) 2 and polishing area for finishing an end point (processing end point) 5 with respect to the plurality of polishing areas without continuously separating the ferrule end surface from the polishing area.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To cut an optical fiber easily with a stable quality and to facilitate a process for inserting the optical fiber into the fixed hole of a ferrule. SOLUTION: A tool for assembling an optical fiber connector is provided with: a casing holding recess 2 for holding an optical fiber connector plug; a fiber guiding groove 3a which is prepared integrally with the tool body 1 and which is for guiding an optical fiber 7 to the rear end of a ferrule 11 inside a casing held in the casing holding recess 2; and a cutting blade 62 which is installed in the tool body 1 and which is arranged on the moving locus at the front end of the ferrule 11 inside the casing, in a prescribed movement for cutting of the casing held in the casing holding recess 2.
