摘要： PURPOSE:To obtain the conversion coefficient or the loss directly from the measured value with omission of the complicated calculation, by giving the selective excitation previously to the mode group at the incident side by means of the spafe filter along with the mode analysis carried out at the radiation side each and then measuring the mode conversion coefficient of the fiber. CONSTITUTION:The mode coefficient or loss is expressed by matrix T to the mode group, and thus this matrix element is obtained through the measurement. The light given from light source 1 is changed into the parallel beams through lens 2 and then made to pass through the filter corresponding to the 1st mode group of space filter 3, and thus the light of the 1st mode group is put into fiber 5 by lens 4. At this moment, space filter 7 is set at the radiation side so that it may correspond to the 1st mode group. Thus loss T11 of the 1st mode group is obtained from the ratio between the light power and the incident light power of fiber 5. Then filter 7 is set to the 2nd mode to obtain conversion coefficient T21. After this, mode conversion coefficient Tij is obtained in the same way to the i-th mode group from the i-th mode group. In such way, the conversion coefficient or the loss can be obtained in a simple way and with no complicated calculation required.
