摘要： PURPOSE:To produce a polymer containing a functional terminal polymer in a high content, by polymerizing a cationically polymerizable monomer containing isobutylene using a specific agent to act as both an initiator and a chain transfer agent at the same time, a polymerization solvent and a Lewis acid. CONSTITUTION:A cationically polymerizable monomer containing isobutylene is polymerized using an organic compound (A) having a group of the formula, which is an agent to act as both an initiator and a chain transfer agent at the same time, and a Lewis acid (B) to produce an isobutylene polymer having a halogen atom-based or an RCOO-group-based functional terminal, by using a polymerization solvent comprising a hydrocarbon or a halogenated hydrocar bon containing an organic compound having a nitro group. In the formula, X is a halogen atom; RCOO-group (wherein R is a monovalent organic group); R is a polyvalent aromatic ring group or polyvalent aliphatic hydrocarbon group; and R and R are each H or a monovalent hydrocarbon group; and when R is a polyvalent aliphatic hydrocarbon group, both of R and R are hot H.

CONSTITUTION:An isobutylene polymer having at least one unsaturated bond of formula I (wherein R is H, a 1-8C alkyl, an 8-20C aryl or a 7-20C aralkyl) at the terminal of its molecular chain and a hydrogenated silicone compd. of formula II [wherein R and R are each a 1-20C alkyl, a 6-20C aryl, a 7-20C aralkyl or a triorganosiloxy group of formula III (wherein R is a 1-20C monovalent hydrocarbon group); X is hydroxyl or a hydrolyzable group and when two or more X groups exist, they may be the same groups; a is a number of 0-3; b is a number of 0-2; and m is a number of 0-18], are subjected to a hydrosilylating reaction in the presence of a catalyst such as H2PtCl5.6H2O, etc., at 0-150 deg.C to obtain a curable compsn. mainly composed of an isobutylene polymer having an MW of 500-30,000 and at least one reactive silicone group of formula IV at the terminal of its molecular chain.
