    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a summary-reproducing apparatus capable of generating and displaying a summary which can look out over the content as a whole, regardless of the number of scenes contained in the original content.
      SOLUTION: The summary-reproducing apparatus comprises a data-recording portion, a scene change detecting portion, a significance calculating portion, a scene-ranking portion, and a summary image reproducing portion. The data-recording portion records a plurality of still image data acquired, by respectively encoding a plurality of still images continued in time, series as motion image data. The scene change detecting portion detects scene change in a motion image acquired by reproduction of each still image data in time series, based on each piece of still image data. The significance calculating portion calculates index value, indicative of significance for each still image within the motion image, based on each piece of still image data. The scene-ranking portion ranks each scene, based on the index value is indicative of significance for a still image contained in each scene in the motion image. The summary image reproducing portion reproduces each still image contained in each scene, selected by only a predetermined number of them in the order of the ranking as summary immages.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To decode the digital speech signal of plural different formats by suppressing the increase of the capacity of internal RAM and of an operation clock frequency. SOLUTION: Two digital signal processors(DSP) 8 and 3 are used and each of them shares the load of audio decoding processing. DSP 8 decode-processes an audio BS(bit stream) from an input terminal 1 by a frame unit and generates frequency coefficient data to write into an external memory 11. DSP 3 reads frequency efficient data of this frame unit and decode-processes it to be PCM (pulse encoding) sample data. This PCM sample data is supplied for a D/A converter 6 through a PCM output I/F circuit 5 and converted to an analog speech signal. In a case when DSP 8 cannot decode-process one frame of audio BS in one frame period because of overloading, a deadline control circuit 12 makes DSP 8 to process the remainder in the next period and makes DSP 3 interpolate-operate in this frame period.
