    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a component change from causing degradation in the image quality of an image formed on an image carrier, by sufficiently minimizing the component change of developer in a main flow passage which occurs due to the effect of replenishment developer supplied from outside. SOLUTION: In the developing device 10, the counter fin 64 of a supply auger 32 causes trickle developer supplied into a replenishment path 58 through an inlet 62 to flow to the main flow passage 22, while stirring it. The trickle developer is combined with developer flowing near the downstream end of the main flow passage 22. Thus, the direction in which the trickle developer supplied into the main flow passage 22 via the replenishment path 58 by the counter fin 64 can be switched to an almost opposite direction (main flow direction) in which developer flows while circulating in the main flow passage 22 by the supply auger 32. In addition, stirring force that is extremely great can be made to act on the trickle developer combined with the developer near the downstream end of the main flow passage 22.
