CONSTITUTION:The method for producing the optical fiber working type device with which the central parts of a pair of the juxtaposed optical fibers are fused to each other is constituted by crimping the parts which overlap on each other and are formed by turning back one piece of the continuous optical fiber 1 on both sides in the longitudinal direction, heating the central parts to fuse and stretch these parts and measuring the quantity of the light entering from one end of the optical fiber, and returning through the turned back parts of the optical fiber to obtain the prescribed light quantity.

摘要： PURPOSE:To eliminate reflection on a fiber end surface by making the fiber end surface and a ferrule end surface abut on each other in nearly the same plane or so that the fiber end surface is in a slightly recessed state as compared with the ferrule end surface by using a stepped jig. CONSTITUTION:An optical fiber 11 which has a cut surface 11a is inserted into the ferrule 12 and the jig 13 which has an abutting surface 13a at right angles to the outer periphery 12b of the ferrule is fitted onto the ferrule 12 at the same time to make the ferrule end surface 12a and optical fiber end surface 11a abut on the abutting surface 13a of the jig 13. In this state, the fiber 11 and ferrule 12 are adhered by the setting of an epoxy type adhesive 14. Otherwise, the center part and end part are formed having a slight step and the fiber end surface 11a is fixed in the slightly recessed state about the end surface of the ferrule 12. Consequently, the quantity of reflection attenuation on the fiber end surface can be improved.

摘要： PURPOSE:To improve the deterioration of a 6dB band in a graded index fiber (GI fiber) by misaligning the axes of a single mode fiber (SM fiber) and the GI fiber by using ferrules of different diameters which insert these fibers into an adapter and a sleeve which holds the ferrules. CONSTITUTION:The sleeve 7 of a cylindrical shape or polygonal shape which presses the two ferrules 5, 5' of different diameters in a radial direction is provided into the adapter 8 to be fastened to an optical connector. Namely, the SM fiber 2 is inserted and fixed to the ferrule 5 and the GI fiber 4 to the ferrule 5'. The ferrule 5 is so formed as to be smaller in diameter than the ferrule 5'. The ferrules 5, 5' formed in such a manner are respectively inserted and fixed into the sleeve 7 in correspondence to the diameter thereof, by which the axes of the fibers inserted and fixed into the ferrules are deviated by as much as the difference in the outside diameters of the ferrules 5, 5'. The deterioration of the 6dB band is improved in this way.

摘要： PURPOSE:To adjust an optical attenuation quantity by a simple structure as desired by varying the projection length of the ferrule of an optical connector and varying a fiber gap. CONSTITUTION:A spring 20 which presses the ferrule 10 for position control is incorporated between the flange part 11 of the ferrule 10 and an adjusting screw member 17 on an adapter side. Both clamping rings 18 are clamped through an intermediate ring 19 and then the housing 15 of a plug and an adapter coupled and fixed mutually. In this state, the adjusting screw member 17 is rotated to adjust the gap l1 between the end surface of the ferrules 10, i.e. the gap of an optical fiber 2 optionally. Consequently, the optical attenuation quantity is adjusted optionally through easy operation.
