    • PURPOSE:To obtain an identical density under identical conditions without the bleeding of an image by using a thermally plastic resin in an intermediate layer and setting an apparent activation energy in a relaxation phenomenon, higher than a specific value, in a thermal transfer image receiving sheet consisting of the intermediate layer and a dye receptive layer laminated on a basic sheet. CONSTITUTION:A thermal transfer image receiving sheet is composed of an intermediate layer 2 and a dye receptive layer 3 formed on the surface of a basic sheet 1. The intermediate layer 2 enables the completely tight adhesion of a thermal head, a thermal transfer sheet, and a thermal transfer image receiving sheet, and provides a cushioning effect so that an air gap does not generate. In addition, the intermediate layer 2 increases a print (photographic) density, i.e., the sensitivity to a higher level and at the same time, prevents the thermal transfer image receiving sheet from becoming curled after printing (photographic process). The basic sheet 1 retains a mechanical and thermal strength adequate for trouble-free handling even in a heated state. The intermediate layer 2 is of thermally plastic resin and has 250kJ/mol or higher of apparent activation energy in a relaxation phenomenon.
