SOLUTION: In the thermal recording material provided with the thermal recording layer comprising an ordinarily colorless or light-colored electron-donating dye precursor and an electron-accepting compound which generates a change in color tone to the dye precursor by heat melting on the substrate, a laminate which keeps an amorphous polyester resin layer, a heat-resistant layer and a surface layer overlying the substrate in this order, is provided. The surface layer is preferably an amorphous polyester resin layer.
