    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress deterioration in characteristics when a ferrule is attached to a coated optical fiber.
      SOLUTION: The ferrule with the optical fiber comprises a ferrule 11 attached to the distal end of a secondary coated optical fiber 3 which has a secondary coating or a reinforcing pipe 5 applied on the periphery of a primary coated optical fiber 2 having a primary coating 4 on the periphery of a bare optical fiber 1. The ferrule 11 has an optical fiber insertion hole 14 which is opened on the joint end face and in which a bare optical fiber 1 is inserted and positioned, a primary fiber insertion hole 15 which is connected to the rear end of the optical fiber insertion hole 14 and in which the primary coated optical fiber 2 is inserted and positioned, and a secondary fiber insertion hole 16 which is connected to the rear end of the primary fiber insertion hole 15 and in which the secondary coated optical fiber 3 is inserted and positioned. The outer peripheral face of the primary coated optical fiber 2 is mostly tightly stuck to the inner face of the primary fiber insertion hole 15, and the end portion 4a of the primary coating 4 of the primary coated optical fiber 2 is butted to the middle portion 17 between the optical fiber insertion hole 14 and the primary fiber insertion hole 15.
