摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber removing connector to be used as an optical tap to be used together with an optical fiber cable and a method for it. SOLUTION: An optical fiber cable 20 is provided with a light transmitting center 28 and a cladding 30 and a buffer 32. A connector for removing the cladding 30 is provided with a plurality of surfaces 60, 62 usable for removing the buffer 32 and the cladding 30 and for exposing the light transmitting center 28. The connector 10 for removing the cladding 30 surrounds at least a part of the light transmitting center 28 of the optical fiber cable 20. The connector 10 for removing the cladding 30 is formed of a light transmitting material and inserted in a printed circuit board or an integrated circuit(IC) chip 12.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide superior exfoliative performance by providing a buffer layer having an interface layer which surrounds the outer surface of a first protection coating and contains surfactant and antifoamer. SOLUTION: A fiber 10 is provided with a core 12, a clad 14, a first protection coating 16, and a buffer layer 18. An interface layer 13 is existed between the first coating 16 and the buffer layer 18. The interface layer 13 forms a low frictional interface between the first protection coating 16 and the buffer layer 18 and is composed of a solid lubricant, a film forming binder, surfactant, and antifoamer. It is preferable that the interface layer 13 has higher adhesive property to the first protection coating 16 than the buffer layer 18. This constitution can easily exfoliate the buffer layer 18 from the fiber by leaving the interface layer 13 and the first protection coating 16 behind.

摘要： A fused coupler is formed from two twisted optic fibres (2,3) of fluoride glass by heating them in the slot (18) of a temperature-controlled heater (15) in a shroud (14) containing an oxygen-free atmosphere. The glass of the fibres may be ZBLAN glass in which case the temperature is 323 DEG C +/- 10 DEG C. In an alternative embodiment the shroud is dispensed with and inert gas (nitrogen) is injected into a hole in the slot (18).

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber coating removing device which each is easy to operate, and never damages the core of an optical fiber in the removal of a coating from the optical fiber. SOLUTION: A device for removing a coating from an optical fiber has a set of housing members 18 having heating members, each housing member 18 has a surface having a coating removing edge 20. The coating removing edge 20 is actively or passively heated to improve the cutting property. The coating removing edge 20 is integrally manufactured, whereby the automatic positioning of the blade and the easily replacement in a field can be realized. The coating removing edge 20 has a removed coating waste collecting area. When the coating removing edge 20 has a saw-like profile, automatic positioning between a coating fiber ribbon and the profile of the coating removing edge is realized by an external positioning device. In such a device, the end part of a covered optical fiber can be positioned, heated, the cut coating layer can be easily separated, and thus, this device has an excellent performance for removal of the coating layer of the covered optical fiber.
