    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide adamantanetriols of high purity that is useful as an intermediate for high functional polymers, electronic materials or organic chemicals, for example, medical supplies, agricultural chemicals or the like.
      SOLUTION: In this method for producing adamantanetriols of high purity, adamantane is allowed to react with hypochlorous acid or its salt in the presence of a ruthenium compound to form adamantanetriols wherein the crude adamantanetriols extracted from the reaction mixture is mixed with water or alkaline aqueous solution and a water-soluble organic solvent, then adamantanetriols are crystallized from the mixed solution whereby the adamantanetriols are purified until the impurity content lowers less than 2 % wt. and the halogen concentration is reduced less than 100 ppm.
