    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fiber laser device capable of efficiently amplifying power of a signal light to be amplified, by suppressing generation of Raman light due to induced Raman scattering or amplification of Stokes rays of the second order. SOLUTION: The fiber laser device uses a rare-earth-doped fiber as an optical amplifying medium of a resonator or an amplifier. The rare-earth-doped fiber is a photonic band gap fiber in which a core is doped with rare earth elements. In a transmission loss of the photonic band gap fiber except an absorption part by the rare earth elements, a transmission loss of Stokes rays of the first order generated by induced Raman scattering is greater than a transmission loss of a wavelength of light emitted from the fiber laser apparatus.
