    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hard material insert for a percussion drilling tool, for further lengthening useful time, when excavating reinforced concrete. SOLUTION: In the hard material insert for the percussion drilling tool 2, the hard material insert 1 has at least one cutting edge 3 and a bottom surface 6 on the inverse side of the cutting edge 3 constituted to be fixed to a shaft end part 5 of the percussion drilling tool 2 by material joining, and is formed by arranging a first chamfer part 9a partially extending at least in the peripheral direction to a fixing surface 8 orthogonal to at least the bottom surface 6 on the bottom surface 6. A second chamfer part 9b having a width wider than the first chamfer part 9a and partially extending at least in the peripheral direction, is arranged to the other free surface 10 orthogonal to at least the bottom surface 6. A width Bb of the second chamfer part 9b is desirably set at 2 to 5 times of a width Ba of the first chamfer part 9a, and an angle α of the chamfer part is set at an angle over a range of 30° to 60°.     • PURPOSE:To guide a chip to be naturally detached from a face of a cutting edge in a cutter and improve its sharpness, by constituting the cutting edge such that its face is formed in a protrusively curved circular arc-shape providing the effective rake in the radial direction at a positive angle. CONSTITUTION:A face F of a cutting edge forms the whole part or its peripheral edge part in a circular arc-shaped helical surface protrusively curved toward the rotating direction Re of a cutter. And the cutting edge holds the effective rake R in the radial direction, which the face F forms in a peripheral edge 3 of the cutting edge, to a positive angle. In this way, the cutter, in which the curving direction of the protrusively curved surface in the face F and the naturally winding direction of a cutting chip are well utilized, improves sharpness by detaching the chip from the face F and reducing cutting resistance.
