    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image formation method which enables image formation on a regular paper surface not having a coating layer by a preparatory treatment and ink-jet recording ink, and which is thereby excellent in ink image quality (image concentration, chroma saturation, collar bleed, character bleeding, and white dots) and excellent in smear fixing in an image section, and to provide an image formation recorded matter. SOLUTION: The image formation method includes: the application process which applies a preparatory treatment liquid at least containing a cation high-molecular weight compound, a surfactant (A), and water on a regular paper surface not having coating layer; and the image formation process which discharges an ink-jet recording ink at least containing a coloring agent dispersed in water, a water soluble organic solvent, a surfactant (B), a penetrating agent, and water as a principal component as a liquid droplet following an image signal, makes the inkjet recording ink adhere to recording material which has been applied by the preparatory treatment liquid, and forms image, wherein the preparatory treatment liquid contains a water soluble organic acid and has 20 to 30 mN/m of static surface tension.
