摘要： PURPOSE:To perform polarized wave modulation without attenuating signal light by making the polarized wave directions of 1st and 2nd exciting light beams coincident with the main axis of an optical fiber for polarized wave maintaining type amplification and specifying the angle between the polarized wave direction of the signal light and the polarized wave directions of the 1st and 2nd exciting light beams. CONSTITUTION:The exciting light E1 which is the projection light from a 1st light source 1 and the exciting light E2 which is the projection light from a 2nd light source are multiplexed by a 1st multiplexer 4 so that their polarized light directions cross each other orthogonally. The multiplexed exciting light beams E1 and E2 are multiplexed by a 2nd multiplexer 5 with signal light S which is a continuous wave. The signal light S and the exciting light beams E1 and E2 which are multiplexed by the multiplexer 5 are made incident on the optical fiber for amplification. At this time, the polarization direction of the signal light S is adjusted by a polarized wave adjuster 7 so that the exciting light beams E1 and E2 are at 45 deg.. Then the Raman amplification of the signal light S is with the exciting light beams E1 and E2. The gain at the time of the Raman amplification becomes maximum when the polarization directions of the exciting light and signal light coincide with each other and minimum when the polarization directions cross each other orthogonally.

After the UV curing resin 3 extruded into the gap parts is cured by a UV irradiating machine 4 and is molded to a tape shape, the UV curing resin 3 of the tape shape cured by filling the gap parts is constricted 31 in the longitudinal direction of the coated tape type optical fiber. Since the easy tearing of the constricted part is possible in this way, the optical fiber tape is separated and branched in the state of the tape type optical cables having desired number of the fibers.

Two sheets of the tape fibers 8, 8 produced in the fiber covering parts 6, 6 are then arrayed by adjusting rolls 11, 11 and stationary rolls 12, 12 in the same direction as the arranging direction of the optical fibers 1, 1 in the tape fibers 8, 8 and the respective side ends of the fibers 8, 8 are positioned adjacently to each other. The tape fibers 8, 8 are integrally molded of a synthetic resin in an integral molding device 13. The split type optical fiber tape fiber which sufficiently separates the respective units is thereby easily produced.

In the equation epsilonm: the surplus length are possessed by the unit 1; epsilonf, epsilons: respectively the elongation strain generated in the unit 1 and the elongation strain in the cable 13 taken out of the extruder 12. The surplus length is imparted to the optical fiber strand in the cable by relieving of this strain epsilont and the cable is taken up on a take-up drum 18. The elongation strain of the optical fiber during the use of the optical cable is suppressed by this surplus length.
