    • PURPOSE:To obtain a cured resin which has a multi-phase structure and is effectively utilizable as a display, etc., by, irradiating a molding comprising a polymer having a specific refractive index, a monomer having a specific refractive index, and a photopolymerization initiator with parallel beams of light to conduct photopolymerization. CONSTITUTION:A molding is produced from a composition which comprises a polymer having a refractive index n1, a monomer capable of dissolving the polymer therein and forming a polymer having a refractive index no (n1not equal to n2), and a photopolymerization initiator. The molding is irradiated with parallel beams of light to photopolymerize the monomer to thereby obtain the desired resin. The beams can be obtained, for example, with an apparatus comprising an ultraviolet lamp 1, a condensing mirror 2 for reflecting the light emitted from the lamp 1, a reflecting mirror 3 for diverting the reflected light, an optical integrator 4 for diffusing the diverted and concentrated light, and a collimator lens 5 for converting the resulting light into parallel beams 6. The title resin can have varying degrees of light transmittance depending on view angle, and is utilizable as a display, light modulator, etc.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain the light emitting body which can emit light uniformly, is light in weight, can be easily assembled, is small in size, and can be utilized as a light source of an image sensor by disposing a light source at the end face of a photoconductor which consists of a transparent strand-like photoconductor and has the refractive index continuously decreasing from the outer peripheral surface of the photoconductor toward the central axis. CONSTITUTION:The light source is disposed at one end of the photoconductor having the refractive index continuously decreasing from the outer peripheral surface of the photoconductor having a circular shape in section toward the central axis. N-kinds of uncured materials which have 10 to 10 poise viscosity in an uncured state so as to facilitate the characteristic control of the linear light emitting body in the uncured state and have the refractive index n of the cured materials formed by curing the uncured materials satisfying the relations n1

    • PURPOSE:To make the distribution of the transmitted light quantity more uniform within the optical transmission body. CONSTITUTION:This refractive index distribution type optical transmission body has a circular section of a radius ro and the distribution of the light quantity within this optical transmission body is uniformized by continuously changing the concn. distribution of a light absorptive material from the center toward the outer peripheral part. For example, >=2 kinds of mixtures which are polymerizable materials consisting of polymers and monomers liquid at ordinary temp. and vary in refractive index are made into >=2 layers of laminated structural bodies by using a concentrical composite spinning nozzle, etc., and are molded to a prescribed shape. The molding is polymerized and cured while or after a smooth refractive index distribution is provided thereon by the interdiffusion transfer of the monomers in the polymerizable mixtures between the respective layers. Dyes, such as azo dyes and anthraquinone dyes, are exemplified as the light absorptive material. The adjustment of the refractive index of the polymerizable mixtures varying in the refractive index is executed by specifying the polymers and changing the kinds, compounding ratios, etc., of the monomers and light absorptive materials to be added to these polymers.

    • PURPOSE:To allow the efficient production of the optical transmission body array to the nearly uniform lengths for the widths of substrates by arraying plastic distributed index bar-shaped lenses nearly equal to the lengths of the widths of the substrates between the original substrates and adhering the lens via adhesives, then cutting the original plate of the optical transmission body array formed in such a manner at the prescribed width of the bar-shaped lenses. CONSTITUTION:Long-sized bodies of the distributed index bar-shaped lenses which can be easily cut and have nearly uniform conjugation lengths are used. Namely, the original plate of the optical transmission body arrays formed by parallel arranging the plastic distributed index bar-shaped lenses of the lengths nearly equal to the lengths of the widths of the substrates between two sheets of the substrates having the width of 2 to n times the prescribed length for obtaining the desired conjugation length of the distributed index bar-shaped lenses and adhering these lenses via the adhesives is cut at the width equal to the prescribed lens length of the distributed index bar-shaped lenses to form n-sheets of the optical transmission body arrays. The optical transmission body arrays having the nearly uniform lengths of the widths of the substrates are efficiently produced in this way.
