摘要： PURPOSE:To prevent the surface of an axial member from oxidation and to secure soundness of a deposited part by plating the external circumferential surface of the axial member previously with Ni when the external layer is formed by continuous build-up weld. CONSTITUTION:The axial member 2 formed by a tough material is lowered continuously concentrically into a cylindrical casting mold, molten metal for the external layer material is poured continuously into a clearance between the casting mold and the axial member 2 and simultaneously solidified at the lower part of the casting mold to manufacture a composite roll 1 wherein an external layer 3 is welded integrally to the external circumferential surface of the axial member 2. In that case, the external circumferential side of the axial member 2 is plated previously with Ni. Ni is a material excellent in acid resistance, since the external circumference of the axial member is coated with a Ni-plated layer, the surface oxidation of the axial member can be prevented up to about 1100 deg.C. The Ni-plated layer is higher in strength than that of the flux layer and excellent in joining strength, too, accordingly, it is scarcely peeled in the treatment to continuous eladding by welding operation and effective for corrosion prevention, protection from contamination when the axial member 2 is stored for a long period of time.

摘要： PURPOSE:To make finely of structure by casting flux already melted at the same time of casting molten metal for outer layer at the time of casting a cylindrical composite casting. CONSTITUTION:In the casting of cylindrical composite casting, in which the outer layer is cast with centrifugal force and an inner layer is cast in the inner face thereof to weld-stick the inner layer on the inner face of outer layer, at the time of casting the molten metal for outer layer, the flux already melted is cast together with the molten metal. By this method, lowering of molten metal temp. caused by adding the flux at the time of casting, is prevented, and therefore, even if the low temp. casting is executed, it is no fear of involtion of the flux into the outer layer and further, the structure can be made to fine. This is effectively utilized to casting of the cylindrical casting, such as roll, roller.
