    • PURPOSE:To prevent the rear wheels from becoming unsteady by the outer force and unnecessitate much motor current in turning a steering handle largely by making the spring constant of a first spring larger than the synthetic spring constant of a pair of second springs positioned on both sides. CONSTITUTION:A shaft 25 provided between a side rod 15 and a third rack 14 is pierced through a spring case 21 as well as a pair of stoppers 26, 27 are formed keeping a space at the shaft in the spring case 21. A pair of spring bearings 28, 29 are slidably fitted inside the stoppers 26, 27, and a first spring 30 with its initial load set as F0 is interposed between the pair of spring bearings 28, 29. Second springs 33, 34 are provided between the outsides of the spring bearings 28, 29 and both side walls 31, 32 of the spring case 21. The synthetic spring constant of the second springs 33, 34 is made larger than the spring constant of the first spring 30. As a result, rear wheels 17, 18 are prevented from becoming unsteady even if the outer force acts on the rear wheels when a vehicle is running.

    • PURPOSE:To make it possible to prevent the occurrence of a mechanical locking state of a tilted speed reduction gear even when it is overloaded by providing a friction type torque slip mechanism between a ring gear and case and constituting it in such a way that when it is overloaded, a ball is left from a recessed section to allow the ring gear to rotate. CONSTITUTION:The rotation of the a line side ring gear 101 of a friction type torque slip mechanism 107 is restricted in a normal movement. In the next step, when the rotary shaft 13a of a motor 13 will not move being caused by the breakdown of the motor 13 due to overload, a ball 115 is left from a groove 123 opposing the spring force of a torque spring 111 to rotate the A line side ring gear 101. Therefore, since the chock is absorbed, a mechanical locking state may not occur. Thus, even if overload in acted on a titled speed reducing gear, components can be prevented from being damaged without the occurrence of a mechanical locking state. In addition, the value of torque slip can be readily changed by varying the spring force of the torque spring 111.

    • PURPOSE:To improve safety by forming a bridge circuit by means of a number of strain gauges, detecting the voltage of the ends of each strain gauge and the voltage differences between the strain gauges on the mutually opposite sides, and outputting an abnormality signal when voltage difference is generated. CONSTITUTION:The resistance values of a number of strain gauges 24-27 for detecting steering torque are equalized, and a bridge circuit is formed by these strain gauges 24-27 while making the strain gauges positioned on mutually opposite sides of the bridge circuit detect strains in the same direction. Differential amplifiers 28-31 as a first voltage detector for detecting voltages between A-D respectively are connected on both ends of each strain gauge 24-27. Also, differential amplifiers 33, 34 for detecting voltage differences between the differential amplifiers 28, 30 and 29, 31 respectively are provided, forming a second voltage detector for detecting voltage differences by these. Further, abnormality signal output devices 35, 36 are connected to the differential amplifiers 33, 34 respectively.

    • PURPOSE:To aim at performing a rapid and accurate motordriven power steering control by connecting a differentiating circuit to a torque signal processing circuit so as to compensate a phase delay, and by providing a phase compensating circuit for adjusting a gain in accordance with a steering frequency, in a function generating circuit for controlling the output of a power steering motor in accordance with a torque and a vehicle speed signal. CONSTITUTION:A differentiating circuit 25 is connected to a processing circuit 23 for a torque output signal from a torque sensor 20 so as to compensate a phase delay between the torque signal and a motor. A phase compensating circuit (i) which advances the phase of the torque signal when the steering frequency is low but decreases the gain when the frequency is high, is arranged in the rear stage of a function generating circuit P for delivering an output level signal to the motor in accordance with signals from the torque signal processing circuit 23 and a vehicle speed signal processing circuit 29. Oscillation is restrained even in a high steering frequency range while a delay in the phase of the motor is compensated so as to make the operation of a steering wheel heavy, thereby it is possible to aim at performing a rapid and accurate motor driven power steering control.

    • PURPOSE:To improve the return characteristic of a power steering (PS) control valve, by supporting a pinion shaft to be displaceably guided by a large diametric circle, eccentrically positioned to the bottom crossing at a right angle from the axial center of the pinion shaft, in order to actuate the sliding type PS control valve by the displacement of the pinion shaft in its rack lengthwise direction. CONSTITUTION:In the case of a rack-pinion type power steering (PS) in which the PS action is performed by transmitting the lateral displacement of a pinion shaft 5 in its rack lengthwise direction to a sliding type PS control valve, a guide hole 31, which supports bearings 6, 7 of the pinion shaft 5 to be displaceably guided, forms a true circle X2 of large diameter eccentrically positioned to the bottom by a distance (e) from the axial center of the pinion shaft 5. If a handle is controlled, the pinion shaft 5 is laterally displaced along the internal peripheral surface of the guide hole 31 by load resistance for the rack. Here the pinion shaft is displaced also in the bottom direction being given a self centering function in the time of returning to the neutral condition by upper urging force of the rack by a spring, and the PS control valve enables its return characteristic to be improved.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain a sufficient reaction torque with a small-sized device by providing a stub shaft for switching a rotary valve according to tortion of a tortion bar with a radially projecting stopper portion to be contacted by a plunger. CONSTITUTION:If a steering wheel is turned in either clock- or counterclockwise direction from a neutral position, a stub shaft 1 is also turned. A pinion shaft 2 connected to said shaft via a torsion bar 3, however, does not rotate due to direction change resistance and makes relative displacement within a range of angle theta. A rotor valve V is switched according to the relative displacement to steer a front wheel in a specified direction by means of a power cylinder. This steering makes a rack shaft 6 move and a pinion shaft 2 rotate to control the action of the valve V. When the stub shaft 1 makes a relative displacement within a range of angle theta, a press contact force between a radially projecting stopper portion 15 of the stub shaft and a plunger 9 receiving pressures in a pressure chamber according to vehicle speeds is transmitted as a steering reaction force to the steering wheel. Thus, a sufficient reaction torque is obtained with a small-sized device to improve feeling of tightness.
