    • PURPOSE:To inspect a person's belongings rapidly by a method wherein a body to be inspected is scanned by an electric wave beam controlled so that the intensity of reflection from a living body be smaller than a value set beforehand and the intensity distribution of a reflected electric wave at each scanning position is imaged and displayed. CONSTITUTION:The direction of radiation of an electric wave beam of an antenna 1 is varied by a scanning device 2. An intermittent electric signal from an oscillator 3 is transmitted to the antenna 1 through a transmission-reception switch 4 and radiated as an electric wave beam to a person to be inspected. Next, a reflected wave from the person to be inspected, a dangerous weapon belonging to the person or the like is detected by the antenna 1 and amplified 5 through the switch 4. Thereafter it is detected by a peak detector 6 and a peak value is outputted therefrom. Then, the peak value of the reflected wave is converted 7 into a digital amount and stored in an image memory 8. Moreover, the image of the person to be inspected which is obtained by a television camera 9 and the content of the memory 8 are superimposed in a superimposing device 10, and an image obtained in the device 10 is displayed in a display unit 11. The person's belongings can be inspected rapidly in this way.

    • PURPOSE:To reduce an area where surveying is impossible nearby the ground surface and to increase survey depth by varying the pulse width, i.e. frequency and pulse amplitude of a radio wave oscillated by an oscillator according to observation depth. CONSTITUTION:A transmitting antenna 1 is applied with a pulse signal from the oscillator 5, which is controlled by a control signal generator 6 to vary the amplitude and pulse width of the oscillated pulse signal. A signal received by a receiving antenna 2 is amplified 7 and further sampled by a sampler 8. This sampled signal is led to a video processor 9, where the signal is made into video and displayed 10. Further, the video processor 9 inputs the position of a carriage 3 where the antennas 1 and 2 are mounted from a position detector 11. Then, the amplitude and frequency of the oscillated pulse signal are varied according to the observation depth and the pulse width is made short as the time of an observation nearby the ground surface, so the area where detection is impossible owing to ground surface reflection is reducible. Further, the attenuation of a reflected wave from a deep surveyed target can be decreased, so the survey depth can be increased.

    • PURPOSE:To survey the position of an underground buried body with high accuracy by radiating a radio wave on the surface of the ground, finding ground surface reflectance with respect to >=2 kinds of frequencies, and finding the radio wave propagation speed in the ground by using the dielectric constant of the ground obtained from the relation between the frequencies and reflectance. CONSTITUTION:A rectangular wave pulse 13 from a rectangular wave oscillator 12 controlled by a controller 14 is radiated by a transmitting antenna 15 at right angles to the ground surface. Part of the radiated radio wave is reflected by the ground surface and the remainder penetrates the ground. A receiving antenna 16, therefore, detects a ground surface reflected wave first and then a reflected wave from the buried body 2. Then the time variation of the received signal found through a sampling circuit 17 is stored 18. Further, the received signal is stored 21 and this signal and the signal stored in a device 18 are used by a computer 20 to finds the reflectance of the ground surface with respect to two preset frequencies. Then, the reflection factors of the ground which are found from the relation between the frequencies and reflectance are used to find the propagation speed of the radio wave in the ground. Then, variation in the reception time of the received signal from the buried body 2 is obtained and aperture synthesis processing 22 is carried out to survey the position of the buried body.
