    • PURPOSE:To reduce the number of lines where notches are suppressed to half and generate transmit picture data while improving the holding quality of thin lines, by utilizing the holding quality of white thin lines by three-line logical processing and the statistical properties of a binary picture. CONSTITUTION:For example, data on lines A and B are stored in line memories 1 and 2 during the transmission of picture data, and a scan on a line C is in process. A comparator 7 reads specific patterns (a) and (b) out of an ROM 6 and compares them with the contents of a matrix register 5. When the contents of the register 5 are equal to the patterns (a) and (b), a clear setting signal STCLR is at H. Then, a clear pulse generating circuit 9 sends out a clear pulse CLRC. Then, the contents of memories 1 and 2 and register 5 are shifted. At this time, data overflowing the register 5 is inputted to a three-line logical processing circuit 8, whose processing result is sent out. On the other hand, when no picture data is sent out, the difference is only that the lines A-C are substituted by lines B-D. The transmission and nontransmission of those picture data are repeated alternately.
