    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus employing an electrophotographic system such as a copying machine, facsimile and printer, the apparatus having a function of sufficiently removing discharge products from the surface of a toner image carrying body with improved durability while protecting a cleaning blade.
      SOLUTION: The apparatus is equipped with: a toner image carrying body 10 having a surface layer 101 containing a resin having a crosslinked structure; a developing device 40 to develop an electrostatic latent image formed on the toner image carrying body 10 by charging toner into predetermined polarity; a cleaning blade 61 to scrape foreign substances present on the surface layer 101 of the toner image carrying body 10, with the top end 611 of the blade pressed to the surface layer 101; a brush member 62 which is disposed in the upstream side in the rotation direction of the toner image carrying body 10 than the cleaning blade 61 and which has bristles 622 to be in contact with the surface layer 101 of the toner image carrying body 10; and a bias applying unit 63 to apply a bias in the same polarity as the above predetermined polarity to the brush member 62.
