    • PURPOSE:To obtain the title recording medium having a dye recording layer capable of holding a sufficient recording characteristic over a long period of time and having excellent stability, by containing a specific compound. CONSTITUTION:An optical information recording medium contains a dye represented by general formula (I). In the compound represented by the general formula (I), R1-R6 are pref. a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom (F, Cl, Br, I), a hydroxyl group, a nitro group, a carboxy group, a sulfonic acid group, a mercapto group and a 1-30C monovalent org. group. A recording layer constituted of the compound represented by the general formula (I) alone or a combination of said compound and other material is formed by dissolving said compound or combination in a resin solution along with other dye before coating. The wt. ratio of the compound represented by the general formula (I) to the resin in the recording layer is desirably 0.01 or more. This recording layer is provided as a single layer or a two-layered structure and the thickness thereof is usually 0.01-1mum but pref. odd-number times 1/4 of a laser wavelength especially used in reading in the case of reflection reading.
