    • PURPOSE:To prevent the tip of printing paper from becoming crimped and caught erroneously and ensure the positive catching of the tip of the paper between platen pressing rollers by controlling the positions of the paper, a carriage and the pressing roller so that these positions are moved as specified. CONSTITUTION:Prior to a normal line feed accompanied by a printing action before the tip of printing paper 15 reaches a holding position, a carriage 20 is moved to a position where a paper guide 22 is offset to the side from below a pressing roller 26. Then when the tip of the paper 15 is set to a position corresponding to the holding position in the forward line feed mode, the paper 15 is reset in the backward line feed mode by setting the pressing roller 26 to a released state. After that, the paper 15 is set back to the holding position in the forward line feed mode, and the pressing roller 26 is closed to press the paper 15 against a platen 11. Subsequently, the tip of the paper is prevented from becoming crimped and at the same time, from failing to be caught correctly. In addition, the positive holding of the paper 15 between the platen 11 and the pressing roller 26 is ensured.

    • PURPOSE:To easily and effectively remove the slack of a continuous sheet generated when the continuous sheet is mounted and to smoothly feed the sheet by reversibly returning the sheet from a pin tractor of a downstream side toward the pin tractor of an upstream side only by the tractor of the upstream side. CONSTITUTION:A microcomputer 41 is provided as control means for controlling the operation of a sheet feed motor 37, and stores in advance the control program of the motor 37. The microcomputer 41 reversibly drives the motor 37 at a predetermined amount to return a continuous sheet P at the predetermined amount. Thus, the rotary motion is transmitted to a pin tractor 28 of upstream side through gears 34, 35, 38. In this case, its returning distance is so determined as not to remove the sheet P from a pin tractor 12 of a downstream side and to slightly reversibly rotate the tractor 28 upon returning of the sheet P and to be larger than the positive feeding distance. As a result, tension is applied to the sheet P to remove its slack.

CONSTITUTION:After the leading end of a printing paper is brought to a position between a platen 2 and a printing head 13 by feeding the paper and before the leading end reaches a position between a pressure roller 5 and the platen 2, the roller 5 is separated from the platen 2 by oving a carriage 12 to an end part of the platen 2 prior to a paper-feeding operation when a paper-feeding signal is inputted. Therefore, even when an error in the leading end position or an error is generated by a feeder in insertion of the printing paper, the leading end of the paper is securely brought to the position between the roller 5 and the platen 2, and the paper is clamped between the roller 5 and the platen 2. Accordingly, before the leading end of the paper is clamped by the pressure roller, printing on a leading end part of the paper can be performed without any trouble.

A printable area is accordingly utilized to a maximum to a position of the vicinity of the printing rear end position L to print the printing data.

According to the constitution, the frame can be reduced in size and jamming of print paper, contacting with the platen, can be suppressed.

CONSTITUTION:When a transfer indication in a return direction is received from a transfer amount input part 15, a return transfer part 20 reads each program from a memory part 16, and prepares a driving pattern of a step motor 5. At first, a setting feed amount (a constant value) is added to an indication value from the transfer amount input part 15, and a self start-up area and an accelerating area following it are set to an initial part of the total amount following a self start-up program and an accelerating program. Further, a decelerating area is set to a final part following a decelerating program. A return transfer part 20 outputs a reverse rotation signal to a reverse rotation control part 17 following the driving pattern. The return transfer part 20 successively outputs a normal rotation signal by a set feed amount to a normal rotation control part 18 containing the self start-up area having following the self start-up program in its initial part.
