SOLUTION: After fastening a cross-sectional U-shaped energy absorber 15 to a front pillar, a wire harness 15 or a drain hose 17 when necessary is installed in the energy absorber 15 from an opening part of the energy absorber 15 by a clip. Thus, the energy absorber 15 is deformed by a head part 2 colliding with the front pillar 1, and is also deformed when the head part 2 enters to interfere with the wire harness 16 and the drain hose 17, so that both move outward from the inside of the energy absorber 15, and since deformation of the energy absorber 15 advances, a deformation stroke can be increased without enlarging the energy absorber 15.

SOLUTION: A front pillar is formed by an outer panel 11, inner panels 12, 13, an interior material (garnish) 14, an energy absorber 15 and the like. The energy absorber 15 is fastened to the inner panel 13 by a screw or assembled to the garnish 14 by an adhesive or the like. The energy absorber 15 is formed by aluminum extruded material, and one or plural slits are provided in the longitudinal direction of the extruded material. Thus, by the head 2 colliding with a front pillar, local deformed state is shown without transmitting deformation in the longitudinal direction even in the terminal part and in the central part of the energy absorber 15, so an energy absorption curve is also made stable.

SOLUTION: An energy absorber 15 constituting a center pillar is integrally manufactured by aluminum extrusion molding, and it comprises lateral pipe-like energy absorbing bodies 15a and 15b having hollow sectional profiles and a connection part 15c. When the head of an occupant is collided obliquely to the center pillar, the energy absorber 15 is deformed to absorb the energy. When the head of the occupant is collided vertically to the center pillar, projection parts 16a and 16b are laterally extended to move the energy absorber 15 in the direction of a panel 12 without being crushed, and an upper seat belt fixing anchor 13 is deformed to absorb the energy. According to this, the energy can be ideally absorbed.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively absorb energy in relation to an injury value of an occupant's head and to improve visibility in a vehicle, by providing an energy absorbing body between an inner panel and an interior trim material, by providing a rigid part in the interior trim material, and by forming parts for connecting between a panel side and the interior trim material side in nearly doglegged shapes. SOLUTION: An energy absorbing body formed in a hollow shape in section by aluminum extrusion is joined to an interior trim material (a garnish) with an adhesive or is fastened to an inner panel 13 with screws. The energy absorbing body has a larger wall thickness, i.e., a rigid part 15a, in a garnish side that is a head collision range, than a general part 15b. Connection parts 15c, 15d connecting between the rigid part 15a and the general part 15b contacting with the inner panel 13 are formed in nearly doglegged shapes. Thereby, an initial partial deformation of the energy absorbing body is suppressed so that a load to the energy absorbing body rapidly reaches to an appropriate load, and then, the deformation continues at respective apexes of the nearly doglegged shapes. Accordingly, the load to the energy absorbing body is suppressed so that energy can be ideally absorbed.
